New Garage Door Installation

We service all makes models and type of garage doors. But often times we find it more cost effective and value-added for new door replacement. There are many moving parts including but not limited to- the door joint hinges, the pull chain, the safety cables & spring, the rollers & tracks etc. Commonly new doors are far more efficient, and have far more capabilities such as WIFI, Alexa, myQ, Ring, Xfinity connectivity and more! Below are some of the most common considerations for replacing your garage door
  1. Safety
  • Some older residential & commercial garage door lacked motion sensors. These sensors are placed at the base of the garage door just inside where the door closes at ground level. They ensure that if anything is blocking them (could be under the door) the door will cease to close. Everything from a cardboard box to fido to your young child. Garage doors, especially old ones, can be very heavy and dangerous
  • Deteriorating/rusted safety components. It is not hard to imagine metal being in contact with our New England weather (Rain/Salt/Cold/Heat) and eventually weakening. Most garage door openers utilize a chain, metal cables and metal springs. If you see the chain sagging, or any signs of deterioration you should consider replacing.
  • Older doors can sometimes get wet inside making them very heavy. In the event of a failure they can cause quite a bit of damage or bodily harm should someone or something be unfortunately underneath. This added weight puts an unnecessary strain not only on the garage door opener, but also the springs, safety cables tracks and rollers causing them to wear out faster.
  • Locking mechanisms- Some older doors either don’t have these or they do not work as they used to. We have a variety of locking options to keep you, your home and your possessions secure.
      2.  Energy Efficiency
  • New garage doors come in a variety of materials and designs. The likes of which are more efficient than doors that are even a new as 5 years old! A well-insulated door helps keep the cool air in during the summer and the cold air out during the winter
  • Updating the seals, molding and weather stripping- a newer door will some with new seals all around, blocking out drafts dust and critters. If you feel air on a particularly hot or cold day around the perimeter or bottom of the door you may need to consider replacement.
  • Older garage doors tend to be solid wood or a wood composite material. Technology and sealing agents have come a long way to keeping water out over the last few decades and older doors can sometimes get wet inside making them very heavy if they are not already. The added weight means more work for the garage door opener and more electricity required for normal operation costing hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars more in operation cost over the life of the door.
  • New garage door openers have a bunch of new technology attached to them- from the remote capabilities but also the motion sensors, some models when equipped have motion sensor lights to help save energy ad only utilize power when motion is detected.
      3. Cleanliness & Health
With your new door, seals and weather stripping in place, you’ll find the benefits exceed just energy cost savings
  • With a tight seal, less dust/dirt and debris will be blown in to the garage, be it from your landscaper/blowing or the wind
  • Better protection against insects- if the bugs cant get in when the door is closed, you are that much more protected from them and the spiders that eat them!
  • Did you know the average mouse can fit through a hole the size of a dime? A DIME! Do you store food in your garage? How about landscape products or wood? Having mice in your garage can quickly escalate in to a giant issue with added costs, traps, bait pesticides and more. The rubber seal at the bottom of the door is probably the most effective defense for mice, but also the most damaged piece due to its contact with the ground, snow, ice salt, having things like cables wedged under them for long periods of time etc. The can deteriorate rather quickly and gaps can form. Each new garage door is installed with a brand new long life rubber seal.
      4. Noise
Old Doors and operators can be both ugly and loud.
When you open your garage door does:
  • The House shake?
  • Lights flicker?
  • Loud screeching noise?
  • Cracking/popping?
  • The ceiling move?
  • The door open crooked
  • Garage door not open all the way?
  • The neighbor asks is everyone ok
  • The neighbors call the cops thinking you’re launching fireworks
Each new door comes not only with the door but all the tracks, cables, springs, door opener etc that will help keep noise to a minimum.
      5. Design/Updates
Did you just remodel your home? Repaint it? Replace the shudders or maybe clean up the landscape? Depending on the style of your home- the garage door is likely one of the largest statement pieces of the home. Generally accounting for at a minimum 60sq ft of frontage for a single garage door. We have a wide variety of designs, materials and colors to suite your needs.
  • Your new door comes with an energy efficient garage door opener that can fit nicely in to any home automation system of your choosing
  • Old doors tend to be faded, and painting them can actually make them look worse
  • We have a wide variety of designs to chose from- want windows? Done. Want a different style window? Done Want no windows, no problem. Want a wood look but a composite material? Covered.
  • If desired, some new garage door openers have battery backups which make them an essential need during a power outage.
